Award-Winning Editor Jay Rabinowitz to be Keynote Speaker at Future Media Concepts' Exclusive Editors Retreat
New York, NY – January 17, 2012 - Future Media Concepts (FMC), the nation's premier authorized digital media training center, today announced that award-winning editor Jay Rabinowitz, editor of more than 30 films including "The Tree of Life" and "Requiem for a Dream," will give the keynote address at its annual gathering for the postproduction elite. FMC's Editors Retreat 2012: An Exclusive Summit for Experienced Editors will take place Feb. 1-5 in Austin, Texas.
"Jay Rabinowitz has worked on an incredible roster of films, so he'll bring an enlightening and instructive perspective to the event," said FMC event production manager Iva Radivojevic. "What's impressive is not only the brilliant body of work he's done with director Jim Jarmusch, but also his collaborations with a wide range of filmmakers such as Todd Haynes and Darren Aronofsky. Understanding the process and importance of collaboration, genre, style, and nonlinear storytelling will make for an interesting discussion."
Not bound by a genre, Rabinowitz's work ranges from art house films such as Shirin Neshat's "Women Without Men" and Jarmusch's "Dead Man," to documentaries and action films like "The Adjustment Bureau." Most recent is his collaboration with Terrence Malick on "The Tree Of Life," which Rabinowitz co-edited with four others.
Now in its sixth year, FMC's Editors Retreat offers TV, video, and film editors five days of networking and advanced sessions on post, visual, and audio techniques. Editors whose applications are accepted will gain valuable insight into emerging trends and technologies, as well as the creativity, craft, and business practices of successful editors.
